Data Dashboard
The Data Dashboard, powered by JAXUSA, gives you an inside look at the workforce demographics and job market trends in Northeast Florida. Dive into these metrics to learn who lives in our region, what jobs and industries are most prevalent and which skills employers are looking for.
The dashboard has three categories: Regional Overview, Jobs and Demand & Skills. For each category, you may dial down into the region you are interested in: Florida, Jacksonville Metropolitan Area, all of the counties in the JAXUSA Region or any individual county in the region. When a region is selected, only the data from that location will appear below.
There are a few definitions that will help you when reviewing the Data Dashboard.
- Location Quotient (LQ): According to Lightcast, location quotient (LQ) is a way of quantifying how concentrated a characteristic of a particular region is compared to the nation. The LQ is the calculation that reveals what makes that particular region “unique” in comparison to the national average. An LQ of 1.00 indicates a region has the same concentration of an industry (or occupation) as the nation. An LQ of 2.00 would mean the region has twice the expected employment compared to the nation and an LQ of 0.50 would mean the region has half the expected employment in comparison to the nation.
- Gross Regional Product (GRP): According to Lightcast, Gross Regional Product is simply Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the region of study. More commonly, GRP is GDP for any region smaller than the United States, such as a state or metro. GRP measures the final market value of all goods and services produced in the region of study. GRP is the sum of total industry earnings, taxes on production & imports, and profits, less subsidies (GRP = earnings + TPI + profits – subsidies).
